A Story of Wine and Passion
Nestled in the heart of the Haut-Médoc, Château Maucamps is a place where noble heritage meets a timeless pursuit of excellence. First mentioned in the 1850 edition of Cocks & Féret, the estate turned a new page in 1954, when a visionary woman, Gisèle Tessandier, acquired it. A descendant of French nobility, she bought the estate at a time when women’s freedoms were still heavily constrained. Though her life was tragically cut short that same year, her bold vision left a profound and lasting imprint on the estate.
Today, each vintage crafted at Château Maucamps carries the echo of that legacy—an enduring story of resilience and grace.
Welcome to Château Maucamps, at the heart of a terroir revealed in every vintage.

The Art of a Haut-Médoc
The wines of Château Maucamps are the faithful expression of our Haut-Médoc terroir and our pursuit of excellence. Each cuvée is the result of know-how passed down with passion, combining respect for tradition with technical mastery.
A Unique Terroir
Grown on 22.5 hectares of clay-gravel soils, our emblematic grape varieties – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot – thrive under the benevolent influence of the Garonne. This unique terroir gives rise to elegant, powerful, and perfectly balanced wines, where each grape is carefully selected to reveal the best of our vineyard.

Experience Château Maucamps
We welcome you year-round to discover Château Maucamps through guided tours and unique tastings. Immerse yourself in the world of our estate and let yourself be carried away by an experience that blends history, terroir, and craftsmanship.
A Unique Discovery
Your journey begins where it all happens: in the cellar. You then follow the key stages — grape reception, fermentation in vats, aging in amphorae (to preserve the purity of the fruit) and in barrels (to add depth and aromas).
Guided Tasting
The experience ends with a glass in hand, in our tasting room. Guided by our team, you’ll learn to identify the families of aromas — fruity, spicy, woody, or tertiary — and understand why they emerge: the influence of the grape variety, the aging process, and the time spent in the bottle. By observing the color, bouquet, and texture, you’ll uncover clues that reveal a wine’s age. A comparison of two vintages then highlights the effects of aging and the subtle differences brought by each year’s climate conditions.
Practical Information
Duration: Approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Languages: Tours available in French and English.
Opening hours : from Monday to Friday :9h-12h / 14h-17h
