Château Maucamps : The Art of Crafting the Timeless
The Art of Crafting the Timeless
At Château Maucamps, every wine is guided by a single purpose: to faithfully express the richness of our terroir, vintage after vintage. At the heart of our blend lies Cabernet Sauvignon — the emblematic grape of the Médoc — which draws its full nobility from our clay and Garonne gravel soils. It brings power, structure, and depth. Merlot adds a supple, fruit-forward touch, while Petit Verdot lends spicy notes and a subtle aromatic signature.
Each parcel is vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, preserving the identity of each grape and extracting the finest aromatic expression. The aging is carefully balanced, with around 300 French oak barrels — 25% of them new — allowing the fruit’s freshness to shine through, never overshadowed by wood.
Since the 2024 vintage, we’ve taken a new step in our pursuit of precision: the introduction of six amphorae. These ancestral vessels, used in a contemporary vision of winemaking, allow for gentle micro-oxygenation, similar to oak, while preserving the varietal integrity. The result: softened tannins and a pure, expressive, and faithful rendering of the fruit.
Our philosophy is one of excellence and adaptability. We strive to bring out the best in every vintage, with a watchful eye on climate change, continual investment in both vineyard and winery equipment, and a deep respect for our Médoc heritage — all while looking ahead. Our wines are powerful, balanced, distinctive — classic and bold at once — crafted to age well, and meant to be shared.

Chronicle of a Winemaking Legacy
Each vintage of Château Maucamps reflects a year, a climate, and meticulous craftsmanship. Discover the richness of our terroir through these unique wines, shaped by time and expertise.
A vintage of contrasts — disrupted flowering, an historic heatwave, and then a timely return of rain in September. Despite the challenges, meticulous vineyard work ensured grapes of exceptional quality. The blend captures the balance between the sun-ripened power of Merlot and the classic tension of Cabernet Sauvignon.
On the nose, the wine opens with deep aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and stewed fruits. Subtle notes of coriander, curry, and sweet pepper enrich the bouquet. The palate is broad, structured, and silky, with smooth tannins supporting a long and elegant finish.
A singular year: early, intense, and complex. Heat spikes, mildew pressure, and an accelerated harvest challenged the team — but the result exceeded expectations. This is a precise, vibrant wine that is both rich and silky.
Its deep garnet hue gives way to ripe black fruits, soft spices, and elegantly integrated oak. The mouthfeel is velvety, enveloping, and finely structured. A delicate balance between alcohol, acidity, and tannins underpins the wine, with a lingering, minty finish that brings freshness and depth.
A return to classic balance. Following a challenging growing season (frost, mildew, a cool summer), an exceptional late season saved the vintage. The resulting wine is refined, elegant, and strikingly pure.
The nose is dominated by red fruits — wild strawberry, fresh raspberry — alongside floral notes of violet, lilac, and iris. The palate is bright and airy, supported by vibrant acidity and fine, linear tannins. Oak is discreetly integrated, allowing for a clean, graceful expression.
A sunny vintage with small yields that surprises with its freshness, despite a hot, dry summer. Concentrated berries rich in sugar and aroma gave rise to a dense yet finely crafted wine.
It opens with intense aromas of stewed black fruits, morello cherry, and plum. The palate is structured and elegant, featuring fine tannins and well-judged acidity. Subtle oak enhances the wine’s complexity without masking the fruit. The finish is long, combining freshness with silky texture.
Though the growing season saw mixed conditions, a warm, dry ripening phase allowed for optimal harvest maturity. The Merlots are expressive and precise, the Cabernets noble, and the Petit Verdots lend a silky, spicy touch.
The nose reveals ripe black fruits — blackberry, plum, blackcurrant — with hints of dried herbs and subtle oak. The palate opens with freshness and suppleness, supported by fine tannins and a taut acidity that provides both balance and length. Oak is understated, highlighting the purity of the fruit through to the lingering finish.

A Crest, A Legacy
Since the 2020 vintage, Château Maucamps proudly features a historical coat of arms on its label — a symbol of identity and heritage. This emblem reflects the story of a family, a land, and a wine shaped by tradition and transmission.
The rearing horses symbolize energy and perseverance — essential qualities in the rigorous work of viticulture. The crown and central shield pay homage to Gisèle Thomas de Dancourt, our founding figure. The fleur-de-lis evokes the family’s place of origin, while the ship represents Macau’s port heritage, the village where our estate lies between vineyard and Garonne. The heraldic lions honour the arms of Bordeaux, the birthplace of our winemaking roots.
By integrating this crest onto our label, we affirm our deep connection to this land and proudly carry the Maucamps identity forward — rooted in a demanding and noble tradition.
